Inclement Weather Policy for Back River UMC
In the event of inclement weather Back River UMC will follow these guidelines:
We will make every effort to continue with our scheduled ministries and programs. However, this is subject to the ability of the ministry/program leader to get to our facility. If you are in doubt, please call your leader prior to your scheduled event.
Special effort will be made to ensure that our facilities are cleared and accessible for all Sunday activities. This includes worship, and our children’s and youth ministries.
Our Scouting programs (Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts) will follow the decisions made by the
Special announcements will also be posted on the church voice mail and sent out via email to those whose email addresses the church office has on record.
When weather conditions are bad, we urge those participating in our ministries and programs to use their best judgment as to whether it is safe to travel. As important as our church ministries and programs may be to you and to those you are serving, your and your family’s safety should be your first priority. A good rule of thumb in gauging whether to come or not is to ask yourself, “Would I go to work today?”
Also, please remember that bills and expenses still accrue for our church even when there is bad weather. So, even if you decide you and your family should remain at home, we encourage you to still find a way to give your offering for that week. Offerings may be mailed to the church office, dropped off once the weather clears, or at the very least brought the following week.
Thank you for your consideration of these guidelines.
