Taking One More Step toward God

Our Values

·         Communication – We value speaking the truth in love.  Good communication is honest, open, simple and clear.  Good communication is also a dialogue – listening as well as speaking.  Good communication builds and strengthens relationships.  This relates to our interpersonal relationships as well as to our evangelistic efforts that expose people to the good news of Christ Jesus.

·         Community – We value the importance of establishing loving, accountable relationships with one another and with Christ through such communal activities as worship, small groups, and team-building.  Hospitality, authenticity, trust, equality and respect are essential to nurturing community.  A God-centered community is a diverse community, reaching out to people of racial and ethnic diversity.

·         Celebration – Our faith is nothing if it is not celebration in praise and worship of God.  All of life and ministry is an opportunity to have fun and rejoice in the blessings of God.  As with all celebrations, it is always better to celebrate with others.  Negativity and pessimism do not have a place in the Christian life.

·         Culture of Discipling – Just as a great coach can help a good athlete become a great athlete, so disciples are assisted in reaching their Christ-like potential through the guidance of mature Christians who equip them for a life of devoted discipleship and service that makes a holy impact on the world.  Every disciple should consistently seek to improve their ability to know, love, and serve God and neighbor with the help of those who can best disciple them.  Every disciple should learn to disciple others – equipping and empowering them for ministry.

·         Collaboration to fulfill the mission – We value engaging all of our creativity, giftedness, energies, and resources strategically together to accomplish with excellence the mission and vision God has given us.  This requires that we spend time together seeking unity and clarity of purpose and that we contribute with equal sacrifice to the cause.  Together we are more effective in ministry and better representative of the embodiment of Christ for the world.

·         Chances for Change (Risk Taking) – We value flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing cultures and environments and to risk moving out of comfort zones for the sake of the mission.  To do this requires personal change and a willingness to trust in God more than we trust in ourselves.  There is no growth without change.  Positive change makes us more effective in our mission and ultimately helps us to fulfill our vision.
