On September 21st Back River UMC will be participating in the annual Essex Day Festival for the first time. Our space will be located around 513 Eastern Blvd. next to the East County Times office. We will require a 10 x 10 ft tent, at least 4 chairs, either one or two tables. We will require people to be present at 8 AM for the purpose of putting up the tent, tables and other materials. We will begin breaking down around 5 PM. We recommend shifts of 2-4 people, working for 3 hours each. With this estimate of manpower we will need 12 people minimum. We will need a banner which says "Back River United Methodist Church”, literature to be distributed and many other items such as face painting. Anyone with skills in our church is advised to contact the church office. For the 16 years I was Festival Chair we had attendance of 16,000 to 18,000 every year. That figure will be the same this year. There will be about 125-150 vendors, 3 stages of music (1 is gospel and we are real close to it), all types of food vendors, crafts, commercial business, non-profits and of course churches.
